You can see that, in a way, the period when the story of “Friends” is taking place is the golden years of youth for generation Y. They were too young to appreciate the show but fondly remember it being big. Coming back and watching “Friends” as an adult creates a very concentrated sense of nostalgia that helps cope with the hard times of the current day and age.

Also, it appears that the Z generation is obsessed with this show. Maybe they see it as a gateway to a time before smartphones and social media. A time similar to the present but still somewhat naive.

One thing that everybody does agree on is the fact that there is no chance that Monica was able to rent that gorgeous house in Manhattan; instead, she spent most of her time in the coffee shop.
